DeValcourt.
The name behind the catalog. A Cajun French surname, settled in south Louisiana, attached to a small body of work.
The name
DeValcourt is a Cajun French surname with roots in Acadiana. Pronounced dev-al-coor — silent t, stressed first syllable — and traditionally written with a capital D and a capital V, no space. Older parish records render it both as one word (DeValcourt) and split (De Valcourt); the one-word, double-capital form is the canonical spelling used here and across the catalog.
The family
The line settled in south Louisiana the way most Cajun names did — through generations of farmers, builders, and storytellers who never made a lot of noise about themselves. I'm Dane DeValcourt, based in Lafayette, where I'm raising my daughters and continuing the work in three forms: software, business, and music.
